Frequently Asked Questions.

Do you teach beginner drivers?

No. We get asked this a lot. We are an advanced driving company and do not teach people how to drive.

We specialise in advanced driving courses in areas such as defensive driving, security driving and 4WD Off Road driving. We also offer advanced defensive riding course for motorcycle riders.

What are the requirement to enroll in one of your courses?

You need to have either a valid Kenyan driving license or a valid International Driving License for any of the practical driving courses. We also request that drivers have a minimum of 3 years driving experience. However, anyone can take one of our online driving courses. A driving license is not required for those types of courses.

What are the costs of each course?

The costs of the online driving courses are listed on this page and can be reached by clicking this link.

We do not post the costs of our other courses publicly as we need to understand each individual’s or company’s requirements. In addition, since our training methodology is so much more advanced and unique to anything else offered in the region, we like to engage on a personal basis so that we can explain how we differ from our competitors, get results in a short time period and offer massive value for each training.

How Do You Differ From Other Driving Companies?

The answer to this is long! We are the only driving company in Africa that has internationally accredited advanced driving instructors, a purposely-built driver training facility with both sealed and unsealed training tracks, international company accreditations from both UK and USA and numerous others! Please read more in the Why Choose Us section of the website. In addition, we have a more detailed Why Choose Us? document that we would be happy to email to you as well. Simply email us at Sales@glenedmunds.com to receive your copy.

Will I receive a certificate?

Yes, but you have to pass the course in order to receive the certificate. For example, the Advanced Defensive Driving Course requires an 80% pass mark.

What is the duration of each course?

We offer a variety of driver training courses. They vary in length from 1 Day to 5 Days. The online courses range from 2-4 hours.

What dates are the courses offered?

Dates of courses vary upon demand. Dates are usually booked by corporate clients, but there are also some “open dates” available for individuals and private groups to join as well. Please contact our sales team for assistance.

Do you supply training vehicles?

It is recommended that participants attend the training in the vehicle that they are accustomed to driving on a daily basis. If a group of 3 from one company train together, one vehicle is sufficient. Alternatively, we hire training vehicles at competitive rates.

What is the difference between an online driving course and a practical driving course?

IOnline courses, sometimes referred to as E-Learning courses, are theory based courses that are offered on a website that can be accessed via smart phones, tablets, laptops and computers. This allows students to learn at their own pace in the comfort of their own home or office.

A practical driving course is one that you attend in person at our purposely-built driver training facility or a venue that your company arranges near their premises.

If I pay for the online course is the cost of the practical included?

No, the online courses are stand-alone prices. The practical driving courses are an additional cost, but we often offer discounts for those that have taken the online course.

Can I only sign up for a practical driving course without taking the online driving course?

No, the information contained in the online version of the course is very important groundwork for the practical driving exercises that you will take part in at our training track. Without the theory, you wouldn’t have the proper foundation to understand the practical exercises.

Is a Defensive Driving Course the same as a Security Driving Course?

This terminology is often misinterpreted and misunderstood. The common definition of defensive driving is the practice of using driving strategies that minimize risk and help avoid accidents, by predicting hazards on the road. This term is associated more with general road safety

Security driving is best described by the International Security Drivers Association (ISDA). Their definition is as follows: Security driving is more than driving a vehicle. It requires the skill and knowledge to move a principal from point A to point B in a safe and secure manner and a variety of environments. In fact, security driving is more accurately called secure transportation, which encompasses in-depth knowledge and a measured level of skill to conduct route surveys, recognize and develop safe havens, create alternate-route plans, and develop emergency evacuation plans. Advanced first-aid skills are also essential.

Do you teach rally driving?

No.

Do you offer a Train the Trainer (ToT) program?

No. We know what it takes to get a professional driving instructor up to a set standard where he can make a difference and save lives. Many companies offer 7 -10 Day Train the Trainer programs and we feel this is irresponsible. It’s just not possible to train someone to a sufficient standard in such a short amount of time.

It takes a minimum of 3 months to bring one of our instructors up to a minimum level. We then continuously mentor them by having international assessors view their progress on a regular basis. We then work with the trainee until we’re finally satisfied that he/she meets our stringent requirements. This usually takes between 8 - 12 months. To become a professional and effective advanced driving instructor requires commitment, time, and experience.
