My wife Dr L M Thorpe MBBS MRCGP was trained in Nairobi Kenya by the Glen Edmunds Performance Driving School. Glen Edmunds himself was the chief driving instructor and trainer and he focussed the programme to meet her needs. Driving in East Africa can be dangerous and combating the dangers focuses on a structured and progressive programme which included car control, driving dynamics, driving on loose and sealed surfaces, the security dimension and anti car-jacking. The course contributed to confidence behind the driver's wheel and increased awareness whilst improving vehicle handling. The Defensive Driving day really was an excellent insight into the sorts of dangers one may face when out on the road, and a great introduction to the critical skills of awareness and avoidance tactics that one should deploy when driving.
