We Are Committed to Improving the Driving Standards &
Reducing Road Fatalities in Kenya as well as other countries in Africa.
There are about 1.17 million deaths in the world that are due to road accidents yearly. 75% of these deaths occur in developing countries although these countries only have 32% of the worlds’ motor vehicles!
The
above statistics reflect the fact that many drivers are not receiving a
comprehensive driver education and are often lacking in a firm
foundation in the fundamentals of driving. Low driver competence levels
combined with the increasing number of vehicles on the road plus bad
road conditions makes driving in Kenya and other parts of Africa very
hazardous.
By offering
professionally operated security/defensive driving courses GEPDS is
making a large contribution to reducing the increasing number of road
fatalities and developing safer and more responsible drivers.
Not
only are the above world statistics shocking, but statistics show that
over 3,000 people are killed annually on Kenya’s roads. Since 95% of
all collisions are avoidable, it suggests that over 2,850 needless
deaths occur in one year. This is totally unacceptable to us.
We wanted to make a difference, so GEPDS adopted the slogan Drive to Survive! in order to bring awareness to the country’s growing dilemma. The Drive to Survive! Campaign was
designed to reduce the increasing number of road fatalities and develop
safer and more responsible drivers. A rigorous marketing campaign at
motor shows and trade fairs, along with lectures to company staff, and
regular e-mails sent out with driving tips, crime updates and course
schedules help the general public more aware of safe driving
techniques.
